Inspired by Frida Kahlo Newborn Photography
At Lindsay Walden Photography we always strive to create unique artwork for each client that is meaningful to them and helps tell their story. This allows us to create something unique every session. We meet with all of our clients before their session for a design consultation to get to know them and discuss the design for their session. When a recent client asked us to create a Frida Kahlo newborn image for their session we were so excited!
As artists we are so inspired by the work of other artists so it was an honor to pay homage to Frida’s incredible work. We began planning the setup for this adorable session months before baby was even born. To create these darling custom images it is important to have a great team to help us realize our vision. We contacted Julie at The Felted Attic to help us design the perfect outfit for our Frida Kahlo baby. We looked through Frida’s body of work to find inspiration that would fit with our style and the types of images we create for a newborn session. We even traveled to Mexico and purchased a few supplies to use for the session.
In the end we had so many fun ideas we decided we couldn’t create just one image. So we made several.
This sweet image is using a beautifully embroidered table runner and ceramic parrot we purchased from a lovely and extremely helpful shopkeeper in Cozumel, Mexico, who was also a huge Frida Kahlo fan. We used our limited Spanish to convey what we were looking for and how we planned to use the items and she was thrilled to help us pick out the perfect items.
