As a Colleyville newborn photographer, I am surprised how often I hear from photographers that they are unwilling to photograph newborns older than a couple of weeks of age. A definite ideal window exists that can potentially make my job easier and the number of images I am able to successfully capture can increase with a sleepier, newer baby. But working with newborns is highly unpredictable so even within the first two weeks it is hard to guarantee every pose and image. With hard work, planning, and patience I have never been unsuccessful in providing my clients with older newborns the fantastic images they have hoped for. Sometimes I find the slightly older newborns to be even easier to photograph in some respects.
This gorgeous baby girl was exactly one month old when she came to my studio. Her mom was nervous that we wouldn’t be able to get any shots as she was a “feisty” one and didn’t like to be disturbed while sleeping. I am thankful to say that with the right environment I was able to get her to sleep without a problem. She was an absolute champ during the session.
And she was full of adorable smiles which just makes my day!
She LOVED being swaddled tightly. My stretchy newborn wraps are perfect for soothing a fussy baby. And in countless colors, they are so pretty.
I can hardly believe this beautiful momma just had a baby! Stunning just like her daughter.
Such a gorgeous family. I am so glad they trusted me with their newborn session and were not deterred to schedule even though their sweet daughter was a little bit older than what is normally accepted for a newborn session.
I love the sweet simplicity of this shot in off-white with coordinating lace pants and bonnet. Just heavenly!
The sleepy baby was full of darling yawns and cute expressions too.

I love the picture in the basket surrounded by flowers! That is such a cute idea, and a fun way to show the time of year she was born. My sister is due any day now and we want to surprise her with a newborn photo shoot. Do you have any tips to prepare the baby before the shoot? thanks for the help and the inspiration!
Hi April. I have a newborn session prep guide I give to all of my clients. If you would like to email me I would be happy to send it to you.
