I hesitate to use the word “typical” when it comes to any newborn session gallery that we create as each is uniquely designed to reflect the likes and passions of our individual clients. But each of our newborn sessions definitely has a similar workflow that we’ve found to be extremely successful both in providing our clients with a stunning and diverse gallery from which to choose from and in creating a workflow that your baby will love.

In all my years as a newborn photographer, I have never had to stop and reschedule a newborn session because of a fussy baby. The workflow and the environment I’ve created within our studio are perfectly conducive to being able to capture the most precious newborn session gallery of images even if a baby is a bit on the fussy side.

We generally begin each session with what we call our “prop” shots. These are the images we design unique to each session based upon the likes and interests of our client. These parents love the outdoors and wanted to incorporate elements from the woods and woodland creatures into the session for their darling little boy. We chose a specific color scheme for the session and then I began designing the session within those parameters. For each prop image we will capture a few different angles and a close-ups so the parents will have multiple options from each set-up to choose from.

We love special requests for our client’s newborn session gallery. This cutie’s parents also love the beach and his auntie happens to be a talented newborn photography prop maker. They requested that I incorporate this darling outfit into their session. I found the perfect composite beach image and photographed baby in the studio and then added him to this peaceful beach scene.

After our prop shots we move to our beanbag images. We normally begin with images on a beautifully textured fur flokati such as this one. We carried over the woodland creature theme into these images with this adorable wolf bonnet. That second image made me giggle. Cutest big, bad wolf ever!

We will also capture darling detail images with a macro lens. These are those tiny little details that as parents we never want to forget about our sweet baby.

We then proceed to a series of darling poses that are sweet, simple and emphasize different features of baby. We sometimes use cute outfits or wraps or we just keep them simple and all about baby.

As most of our beautiful mamas elect to add professional hair and make-up to their session we will then generally finish the session with stunning family and individual parent images once mama is ready. If there are siblings we also create a few darling images that capture the connection between your little ones. We do a couple of different poses for each.

We generally recommend reserving your newborn session a few months in advance when possible to be sure we are able to accommodate you. We take a limited number of newborn clients each month to ensure we can provide all of our clients the same exceptional level of service.
