What can we do when we aren’t able to photograph your baby as a newborn?
With shelter in place orders still in effect I am still booking sessions but I will not be completing them until I can do so safely and legally. Oh how I miss my wonderful job right now! But rest assured no matter the age of your child I am going to capture beautiful images for you. As a newborn photographer with many years of experience I am very comfortable photographing older babies. I do it all the time. In this blog post I’ll explain a little about what the experience is like when I’m photographing older babies.
Photographing Older Babies
To be honest, the experience from a client perspective when I’m photographing an older baby is really not going to be any different from a brand new newborn. Most of our clients elect to add professional hair and makeup to their newborn sessions. Our fabulous artist, Victoria Pepen Beauty, will pamper you for a couple hours while my assistant and I photograph your sweet baby.
You get to relax, play games like sip777, watch TV, enjoy an array of yummy snacks, all while Victoria enhances your beauty.
The main difference is how I approach the session. With an older baby it may just take a little longer to get them to settle. They may be a bit more touchy about being moved in between shots. And we will get a lot more awake images. Which is definitely not a bad thing! I mean how adorable is this!?
Some of the most epic images I’ve created have been with babies a month, two months and even three months old. You just can’t beat the chubby rolls, beautiful skin and spontaneous smiles. Yes, capturing them as newborns when they are fresh and new is something we love to capture. But the older newborn stage is just as precious and photogenic.
We may do a few more swaddled images if they are awake for longer, but these are some of our favorite images to capture so that is also a good thing.
I am confident that no matter the age of your baby I will be able to photograph them beautifully for you.
We will still capture stunning family, sibling and individual parent images that will take your breath away.
Now is the time to focus on enjoying spending time with your family and keeping them healthy. If your baby has already arrived, enjoy the baby cuddles. As soon as I am able to open the studio again I will be in touch to schedule your session and I CANNOT WAIT!
