It’s been some time since I’ve had a blog to keep up to date. I kind of miss the opportunity to stretch my linguistic limbs and express my art through written words. But there’s no question that I’m a far better portrait artist than writer. So for the most part I will be focusing on sharing beautiful images from some of my favorite photo sessions and providing a few behind the scenes details.

Each of my photography sessions is customized to a particular client. I love the opportunity to meet with you before your session and design the colors, themes and particular shots that fit your family’s personalities and aesthetic. The more meaningful I can make the images for you the better. Creating works of art that you can look at on a daily basis and feel a sense of joy and beauty is what I am all about.

This cute golfer has the sweetest parents. From their maternity session to the newborn session we incorporated small details that represented those things that were important to the family. As the dad is an avid golfer we of course had to do a few future golf pro photos. My husband is a PGA professional and was a huge help in supplying props for our session.

Also important to the family was to have a few photos that captured the tiny details of their newborn. I incorporate parents into a shoot whenever possible. Dad’s large, masculine hands adds scale to this lovely image and emphasizes how tiny and fragile all babies are.

Mom also loved my vision for this particular image. A lot of the images I shoot are composites, meaning they are multiple images manipulated together in the editing process to create one seamless image. Your newborn’s safety is my number one priority. For this image our sweet baby was laying atop a large beanbag, perfectly safe. I then took a separate image of the hanging wreath and composited the baby into the shot.

If you ever see a photo and wonder “how did she do that” it most likely was done using a composite of multiple images. And a little bit of magic fairy dust for good measure.

I often use baskets or bowls as props as well. I make sure that baby is comfy and snug being posed in props like these. I also have an assistant as well as a parent with a hand on baby at all times to ensure their safety.

Lindsay did such an amazing job incorporating props that we used in our maternity photo shoot into Mason’s newborn shoot. The talent she has for handling newborns is nothing like I have ever seen before. Mason was putty in her hands and she did an incredible job of capturing him. From setting up the concepts for the shoot to the prints, Lindsay is nothing short of a perfectionist and it truly shows in her work. Thank you for everything!
