You’re expecting and feeling overwhelmed with all the things you need to do before baby arrives. You’ve probably been thinking about newborn photos and capturing that beautiful stage when your baby is brand new and fresh. But it seems like one more thing to stress about. At Lindsay Walden Photography I love to take all the stress out of your newborn session. Here are just a few of the things we do to help you prepare for your newborn session.

How to Prepare for Your Newborn Session

Meet with Your Photographer in Advance

Before baby arrives we will schedule a design consultation for us to meet in person. I find this is extremely helpful for a number of reasons. For one it is simply an opportunity to meet in person before you are handing me your brand new, precious baby. I find it helps my clients feel so much more comfortable. At the design consultation we will talk about everything you need to know about how to prepare for your newborn session, what to expect, what to bring, etc. My goal is to make sure you have all the information you need so you are not anxious or nervous about anything. The session itself should just be fun for you.

Make a Plan for the Design for Your Newborn Session and What to Wear

We will also talk about the design for your newborn session and what types of images you want me to create for you. I have hundreds of props and darling outfits for baby as well as hundreds of couture gowns for moms and darling gowns and dapper outfits for older siblings. I’ll help you coordinate outfits for the whole family. We will also talk through strategies that help ensure those family images go smoothly. Most of our clients also choose to add professional hair and makeup to their session which alleviates so much stress on you. Our artist Victoria Pepen is amazing and our clients adore her.

What to Bring for Your Newborn Session

During your design consultation we’ll talk about everything you may want to bring for your newborn session. The primary things to not forget are any heirlooms we may be incorporating into your session and something to feed baby with (whether you are breast or bottle feeding). If you forget anything just know that we are well prepared. We keep plenty of diapers, wipes, baby formula, breast pads, bottle warmer, freezer, fridge, bobby pins, hair spray, strapless bras, snacks, refreshments, toys for siblings, tv for entertainment, etc. We’ve tried to think of everything you could possibly need to make your session more comfortable and fun.

How to Prepare for Your Newborn Session

Ultimately my goal is to prepare you upfront for your session so you feel more comfortable and then take care of everything for you the day of your session. I want it to be a seamless and easy experience for you.
