Every year, I embark on a journey that is both incredibly heartwarming and profoundly rewarding. I volunteer a day to photograph around 20 babies for the non-profit Prestonwood Pregnancy Center, an experience that has become one of my favorite days of the year.

The culmination of this day is something truly special: a beautiful calendar showcasing these little stars, each capturing the essence of new beginnings and hope.

The Joy of Giving Back Through Photography at Prestonwood Pregnancy Center

As a photographer specializing in newborn and maternity photography in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, I’ve always believed that my camera is not just a tool for capturing moments, but a means of storytelling and giving back to the community.

My collaboration with Prestonwood Pregnancy Center is driven by this ethos. This center does remarkable work in supporting expectant mothers and their families, and being a part of their mission, even in this small way, is an honor.

A Day of Smiles and Warmth

The day starts early at the center, with the air buzzing with excitement. Parents arrive with their bundles of joy, each with their unique personality and charm. From sleepy yawns to darling grins, each baby brings a new adventure and a chance to capture their innocence and wonder.

Setting up for a baby photo shoot requires a blend of patience, creativity, and a whole lot of love. We have a variety of soft blankets, gentle lights, and cozy props to make sure our little models are comfortable and safe. Capturing the perfect shot of a baby is a delightful challenge that never ceases to inspire me.

Especially with the Bible theme of this year’s calendar, each of our little stars had different costumes reflecting different figures & themes from the bible.

Creating the Calendar: A Labor of Love

After the photo session, the next step is selecting and editing the best images – a process I approach with great care and affection. Each image chosen for the calendar is not just about aesthetic appeal; it’s about telling a story that resonates with anyone who sees it.

The calendar is designed to be a celebration of life and a reminder of the pure joy and innocence that every baby represents.

This calendar, however, is more than just a collection of adorable photographs. It’s a symbol of hope, community, and the love that surrounds these new lives.

Each year, the release of the calendar is a moment of pride and joy. It’s a privilege to see my photographs being used for such a meaningful cause.

The calendars are cherished by the families of these little ones. They’re also adored by the broader community who purchase them. And of course, the proceeds go back to support the center.
