As a fine art newborn photographer, I love to create completely personalized sessions for each of my clients. This customized approach can entail the use of a variety of baskets, bowls, multiple backdrops, outfit and wrap changes, accessories, and props. All of which are available in my studio.
In each session, I typically work through the same series of poses for each baby. The variety of poses each accentuates the different aspects and features of your baby. One of my favorite poses is called the “bum up” pose. I love this pose because it allows me to capture so many darling elements unique to a newborn. I love how this pose highlights the creamy soft skin of a newborn, the little fat backrolls (so cute on babies but not so cute on me), chubby cheeks wresting on a dainty hand, and their restful, angelic sleeping state.
This pose is flattering on even the tiniest of babies. When I bring their knee to their elbow every baby will have those darling back rolls.
Last but not least, the simplicity of the pose and background combine to draw your eye to their sweet face.
“Bum up” is one of the more than twelve poses that I offer during a newborn photography session.
