As a premiere Dallas photographer we are constantly looking for ways to give back to the wonderful communities we serve. Lindsay Walden Photography is thrilled to be teaming up with International Rescue Committee for an upcoming event to celebrate World Refugee Day. You can get involved too and help families in need right here in your own community.

A couple years ago Lindsay was touched as she listened to the stories of local refugees who had been torn from their homes and traveled to the US to escape deadly conditions and persecution. Many of these families left their homes, careers and even family members, with only the clothes on their back. Through the help of tremendous organizations like International Rescue Committee these individuals and families are making a new life for themselves here in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex.

In listening to their stories Lindsay was most touched by the recurring statement by so many of the refugees. That they were just glad to be safe and to have their families with them. It reminded her how precious our families are. That despite losing everything material, they still had their families. She thought of the apartments so generously provided to the families with donated clothing, furniture, food, etc., to help them get their feet on the ground. But realized the one thing they had that was truly their own was their family. She thought that having a framed photo hanging on the wall of their own family would help those new homes feel a little bit more like “home”.

So she reached out to the local leadership of the International Rescue Committee to offer her services as an experienced Dallas Photographer. In talking to them the idea formed of providing family photos on a larger scale to refugee families in the area at the annual World Refugee Day celebration. Last year at the World Refugee Day celebration in Dallas over 300 refugee families from the Dallas/Fort Worth area received a framed family photograph. The families were lined up for this experience and it was much talked about after the event. We are so excited to organize this event again for 2018 and hope to serve even more families.
